I am writing to thank you personally for the outstanding care you provided my mother.

As you know, I first met you when my mother was a hospitalized patient at Mission Regional Hospital and Medical Center during December 2005, the nurse noted an infection on her right foot, brought it to the attention of the hospital’s wound care nurse specialist, who then asked you to see her in consultation. You and I first me that evening, in my mother’s hospital room, when you performed her consultative evaluation and made recommendations; you were then kind enough to continue to follow her as an outpatient at her residence because of her consequent difficulty in ambulation and visiting office.

The infection had become relatively deep and large, and culture revealed difficult bacteria as the underlying pathogen. Her primary home care physician was pessimistic as to our ability to successfully treat her conservatively. You remained very optimistic, from the outset, telling me that you saw no reason why we could not treat her successfully using antibiotics, a “Wound-Vac,” with very careful and meticulous application of a chemical debriding agent and daily dressing changes. Under your supervision, guidance, and expert care, you proved to be 100% right, in that over time with the measures which you prescribed, the wound is almost entirely healed, and she is doing well.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you happy Holidays and thank you for the work you did on my foot. Thank you for having the confidence and bravery to go ahead and do the surgery when other doctors were waffling and offering sub-standards solutions. Thank you, also, for your kindness and consideration in taking care of me (and my Mon!) I was looking at a lifetime of greatly reduced ability to enjoy outdoor activities and travel, as well as having extra problems when trying to find size 11 shoes that fit both feet, now, I am not.
