Running Right
We enjoyed your article on “Running Right” (Sept. 30) by Don
Patterson. Our group has collectively worked with tri-athletes and
marathoners, and has been a part of the medical corps for the New York
Marathon, Boston Marathon, and San Francisco Marathon. In regards to
shoe selection, a runner should first understand their foot type and
body type, then determine the shoe requirements that their foot and body
type dictate. For example, if you are a 220-pound over-pronator, you
will need a motion control shoe with an absorbing sole to prevent injury
to your foot as well as your knees, hip and back. Dr. Devon Glazer Aloha Foot and Ankle Associates, Inc.
